8x10x1.5” original mixed media artwork affixed to cradled Birchwood. The beautiful piece of original artwork is encapsulated in several layers of artist-grade epoxy resin for a glass-like finish. The piece has a contemporary antique look that is accented with stunning pops of Gold leaf channeling the Japanese tradition of Kintsugi: the art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with Gold.

Meaning behind the piece:

This piece is an ode to the moment right before true healing begins. It’s a moment many of us who suffer with the darker parts of life, health and happiness often think will never come. Capturing the colors of sunrise after a day of bad weather this piece hopes to capture the viewers eye by seemingly exuding it’s own light source. The glowing essence of the piece is an expression of our own ability to glow from within, our own ability to seek and find the light and our own ability to rise above the darkness.

It’s relatively easy to get lost in the darkness.

To become confused and torn by the things that scare you.

What’s harder, though, is finding the light amidst the darkness.

Finding the tiny speck of a spot where the glisten shines through.

A sparkle so small many would miss it and

confuse it’s glimmer for a mirage...

Just a trick of the mind.

However there is no trick and there is in-fact a brightening...

Just upon the horizon.

At first it’s so faint it’s hard to differentiate but slowly it glows brighter...

The echoes of darkness remain, playing temptress, inviting you to stay...

Begging you not to go.

But in that light you catch a glimpse of purpose, of hope and of healing.

In that horizon you begin to see the start of a beautiful sunrise.

A change of time, temperature and plans.

A change of colors, light and sound.

Finding the light isn’t easy...

Not because it’s hard to find but because what is within you is not always reflected back until someone points out the horizon.

Until someone or something says “hey, look - over there”...

And when you look up, when you look through you realize it’s been there all along.
