20x16” original painting on a Fredrix canvas featuring a three-dimensional web sculpture.
Part of my 2026 “In the Grass” series. The View from Above depicts with a bird's eye view of a tiny, hidden world. Featuring ants marching, a spider and its web (sculpted from resin), bees and Monarchs, amongst clover flower, Yellow forget-me-nots and wild violets. I wanted to capture that feeling of peering into a thick patch of grass and discovering a whole ecosystem at work, from the tangled spiderweb and busy little bees to the wild forget-me-nots. The grass represents our roots and community, while the three monarch butterflies lifting off into that deep, moody emerald space are all about transformation and having the guts to fly off into the unknown.
