8x10x1.5” original mixed media artwork affixed to cradled Birchwood. Featuring genuine collector’s quality Aura Amethyst. This beautiful piece of original artwork is encapsulated in several layers of artist-grade epoxy resin for a glass-like finish. The piece has a contemporary antique look that is accented with stunning pops of Gold leaf channeling the Japanese tradition of Kintsugi: the art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with Gold.

Meaning behind the piece:

This piece is a representation of hitting rock bottom in the human experience. The result of lifetimes of repressed trauma and lack of appropriate nurturance. The idea of being broken down to our very cells in order to rebuild again . At 25 years old I was blind-sided with a major mental health breakdown in the midst of my successful academic and professional career. Lack of sleep, food, insane amounts of energy and trauma that was no longer content with resting lead to a head on collision with mania and psychosis. This piece is a representation of the web I built during my break with reality and the breaking through process of coming out untarnished on the other side but rather sparkling, glowing, rock solid in one’s truth, unafraid of the darkness. This piece features healing Aura Amethyst, a hard to find treated stone that stabilizes the aura.

Bruised heart and broken skin.

Red stained iris’ and glistening lashes.

Twisted bones into melted cells.

Crawling inside the depths of pain ...

I built a magnificent web.

A web of sorrow returning to source ...

... of losing touch with all that is human.

Securely cacooned in a chrysalis of my mind’s creations.

Building safety out of my own DNA.

I lost touch, spent time in alternate realities.

Losing, seeking and eventually finding.

I break through.

Crystallized.

Transformed.

A healing heart and protective scar tissue.

Sparkling eyes focused.

Resurrected spirit into renewed hope.
