8x10x1.5” original mixed media artwork affixed to cradled Birchwood. The beautiful piece of original artwork is encapsulated in several layers of artist-grade epoxy resin for a glass-like finish. The piece has a contemporary antique look that is accented with stunning pops of Gold leaf channeling the Japanese tradition of Kintsugi: the art of repairing broken pottery by mending the areas of breakage with Gold.

Meaning behind the piece:

I was 21. Scared, heartbroken and deeply depressed. Finding my way to a love that was healthy was the catalyst to my world changing from varying shades of gray to the full color spectrum. Finding my husband, finding myself, finding my heART. This piece is a representation of the moment when your heart recognizes itself in another.

There once was a time when I couldn’t see color.

It was like the world was black and white, some shades of gray...

... and then there was you.

It all came alive.

In your love came my life.

In your future hid my home.

Two souls meeting, two souls knowing.

The colors of you guided me to the colors of me.

And now color is all I see.
